About Postnatal/Mommy & Me Classes:

Mommy & Me Yoga is not just for Mommies.  Daddies, Nannies, and Grannies are also welcome with children ages 6 weeks to 3 years.

A typical Blissful Mommy & Me class consists of a Kundalini Yoga kriya (exercise set) and meditation for the parents and Baby Yoga for the little ones.  The kriyas are carefully chosen to benefit new mothers who need to regain strength in the abdomen and pelvic floor after childbirth (though other caregivers would certainly also benefit from the very same kriya.)  Other focuses are increasing energy, stimulating the immune system, opening the heart center, and relieving tension in the neck and shoulders that comes from feeding, carrying, and holding babies.   Meditations are chosen to alleviate depression, to relieve stress, and to balance the brain.  Baby Yoga combines songs and mantras with moving and stretching baby’s limbs and leads to happier, healthier babies.   Movements are never forced and parents are encouraged to honor their child’s boundaries.

Mothers are advised to wait at least 40 days after delivery before coming to class.  To learn more about the first 40 days after birth from a yogic philosophy, please read this article.
