We all love our children with our whole hearts and want to be the best parents we can, whether we are postpartum or parenting teens. The reality of parenting is that the job is typically more demanding than we ever imagined or prepared ourselves for. In the busy times we live in, we often juggle more responsibilities than should and neglect to take time for ourselves to recharge and de-stress. As a result, we can become frustrated and snappy with our partners and our children.
Years ago, I was in conversation with a group of local moms and we were discussing attachment parenting and gentle discipline. One of the mothers said something that has stuck with me ever since. She said something to the effect of, “All of this is great, but what about when your fight or flight response gets triggered? Then what?”
Nobody had an answer for her. You can read all the parenting books in the world, love your kids unconditionally, but when you get triggered, there are no guarantees you won’t say or do something that you might regret later.
It just so happens that in the Kundalini Meditation tradition, there IS an answer. There is a specific meditation that actually helps you become less reactive and more responsive. This powerful meditation strengthens the parasympathetic nervous system, gives endurance, and calms reactions to stress. The best part is, you can get results in just THREE MINUTES A DAY! For tired, overwhelmed, and busy moms, it’s a dream come true. It’s not hard to do, and the results are undeniable.
I invite you to join Roots Family Collaborative and myself for Calm & Clear Mamas: a 40 Day Self-Care Meditation Experience. Commit to 3 minutes of daily self-care by practicing the very meditation that will help you become more responsive and less reactive. When you join Calm & Clear Mamas, you’ll have access to an instructional video to support you in your daily practice as well as access to a private online forum with other participants where you can expect daily check-ins to track your progress and share your experience if you choose to do so. Bonus yoga & meditation videos will made available to you to enhance your practice on days when you have more time. At each Blossom Mom support group during the 40 days, I will be present to lead the meditation and answer questions to help you get the most out of your experience. Suzanne Bendick, postpartum doula, CLC, and founder of Roots Family Collaborative, will be also available at Blossom Mom for conversation and support.
We hope you will join us. You can sign up online at Roots Family Collaborative. Please give me a call at (406) 595-2547 if you have any questions at all about the meditation or the experience.
Why 40 days, you might ask? In the Kundalini Yoga & Meditation tradition, Yogi Bhajan taught that it takes 40 days to break negative habits, 90 days to establish a new habit, 120 days to confirm the new habit, and 1,000 days gives mastery over the new habit. You are certainly welcome to continue your practice for 90, 120, or 1,000 days if you choose!
