Blessed & Stressed~ Meditations for New Mamas

Being in the throes of the postpartum experience myself, I am remembering all over again how mentally, physically, emotionally, and energetically challenging these times can be.  Self-care frequently falls to the bottom of the to-do list while the laundry and dishes pile up.  Babies need a lot of attention, and of course we want to meet their needs!  If you have other children at home, it can be even more intense.  Caring for a tiny person is no small task and hormonal changes coupled with sleep deprivation can seriously compromise our well-being.  Postpartum experiences can vary greatly, and more women than you’d think will experience postpartum depression, rage, anxiety, OCD, or even psychosis.
In the Kundalini Yoga tradition we have several incredible meditations that I find very useful in the postpartum period.  I’ll be sharing them on Sunday, May 22, 10am-noon at Heartmanity in Bozeman.  This class is offered on a donation basis.  Donations will be put into a special fund to make prenatal yoga classes available to low-income and teen moms.  I sure hope to see you there!
